#WhatsYourGift volunteer fair a huge success

7th June 2019, 1:52pm | By graememorrison |

The #WhatsYourGift Warminster volunteer fair took place at the Civic Centre on Saturday morning and organisers were delighted by how well it was supported by the public.

The event aimed to raise the profile of some of the volunteering opportunities available in Warminster and to make connections between organisations who rely on volunteers to help them operate and people interested in giving up some time.

Warminster Community Engagement Manager Graeme Morrison said, “Between 100 and 150 people came through the door there were around 20 people queueing up to get in when we opened. When you consider we were aking people to give up some time on a Saturday to come down and find out about opportunities which will mean they give up more of their time that is a good number of people! It just shows that there are plenty of people out there who feel able to give up some time, but don’t necessarily know which organisations looking for people and what roles are available out there. Initial feedback from all the exhibitors has been excellent so Deborah Gogarty, David Reeves and others who organised the event should be really pleased.”
