The Bank Holiday on 2nd January was celebrated by clearing detritus from an 80m section of Byway Warminster 89 at Warminster Common. The section was tarmaced when the Bypass was built and is a useful car parking area for those using the Common.
The lane has a history of fly tipping but that has been overcome by weekly litter picks and immediate removal of fly tip. Normally we are able to clear leaves with a leaf blower but the extreme weather we have experienced in the past few months meant that a great deal of leaf litter and soil had accumulated on the surface.
Using generous grants from: Warminster Area Board, Warminster Town Council & The Fudge Trust for Warminster we now have a variety of tools that act as force multipliers. The snow plough attachment for our Mega Mower was useful when we had the recent snow fall and is excellent for scraping leaf litter off tarmac. Given an hour to dry, the residue was easily cleared with the cordless leaf blower.
