Applications will be open from 18 November 2019 for young people aged 11-18 years to stand for election to the United Kingdom Youth Parliament (UKYP). Wiltshire has three seats on the Youth Parliament, as defined in the attached information.
Youth Parliament offers unique opportunities for those who have an interest in decision-making and in representing the views of peers. These will be young people who want to make positive change and who can, with support, hold their own in some challenging situations.
THIS COULD BE A GREAT EXPERIENCE
This year, candidates are asked to submit a short video of no more than 60 seconds outlining their manifesto.
The deadline for candidate applications is Monday 16 December 2019.
After that time, information about the candidates, how to view the video manifestos, and the voting process will be made available.
Elections will take place between 3 February and 14 February 2019 using text voting. Students between 11-18 year olds only are eligible to vote.
Members of Youth Parliament will be expected to take a leadership role in the Wiltshire Youth Union (WYU). Any young person in Wiltshire can be a member of WYU, youth participation in the forum is encouraged and all newcomers who wish to get involved are welcomed.
