Free council lecture looks at the future of employment in the digital age

9th January 2019, 11:22am | By Marc Read |

The next of Wiltshire Council’s free inspirational #EPIC Talk series takes place this month with a focus on the future of employment in the digital age.

Rachel Neaman, who runs her own consultancy firm, is the guest speaker and her talk takes place on 29 January at County Hall, Trowbridge from 5:30pm to 7pm.

In this talk, titled ‘Rise of the Machines – the future of employment’, Rachel will explore the impact of the fourth industrial revolution on the future of employment, and the implications and consequences of the accelerating pace of tech-change on the workforce.

Rachel is a digital leader specialising in digital transformation, skills and inclusion. She has extensive senior leadership experience in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors in the UK and internationally.

Jo Pitt, Wiltshire Council director for human resources and organisational development, said: “We are delighted to have someone of Rachel’s standing in the industry to speak at our event. Rachel’s topic is extremely timely and I’m sure will provide some serious food for thought for those who attend.

“Our hope is that these events spark conversations, ideas and debates and the response so far has been great.”

Rachel Neaman said: “With the growth of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning already transforming the workplace, there is no better time to discuss the realities and the myths of this new world and to look at the implications for jobs, skills and the economy. I am delighted to be joining Wiltshire Council to debate these important issues.”

To book their free place, people should visit www.epictalks.eventbrite.co.uk

Other speakers lined up for future #EPIC Talks are Margaret Heffernan (21 March 2019), an international entrepreneur, CEO, author and TED speaker and Simon Tyler (23 May 2019), a motivational author and life coach.
