Fancy a job in Leisure

20th May 2022, 10:11am | By richardrogers |

With its leisure services going from strength to strength following the pandemic, Wiltshire Council is looking for a range of people to work in leisure centres, including the brand new Melksham Community Campus later this year.

Wiltshire Council runs 20 leisure centres throughout the county and is regularly investing in new facilities, which are attracting more customers keen to get back to a more normal and active life following the pandemic. The council is looking for staff to fill a wide range of important roles at its centres throughout Wiltshire. They include lifeguards, duty managers, receptionists, swimming instructors, and fitness instructors – all playing a key part in the council’s leisure ambitions.

The council is looking for friendly, enthusiastic  people who can provide a high standard of customer service and can reward them with an excellent benefits package including training and discounted access to leisure facilities as well as wider rewards and discounts.

It’s an exciting time to join the council’s leisure service. In 2021, Wiltshire Council took over the management of 10 additional leisure centres throughout the county, and later this year Melksham Community Campus will open its doors to the community, with its leisure facilities including a state-of-the-art fitness suite, swimming pool, and sports hall.

Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “Following the impact of the pandemic we are so pleased that our leisure centres are offering their full range of services again. This gives us the best opportunity to achieve what we’ve set out in our Business Plan, to support people to keep physically, socially and mentally active – which can have such a positive impact on all aspects of people’s lives.

“We have an outstanding team running our leisure facilities, and they are fully committed to supporting people of all ages and to providing an all-round excellent service.

“If you think you’d like to be part of our team and could help play your part in making a real difference to our communities, then please get in touch or pop into one of our centres for a chat – we’d love to hear from you.”

Leigh, a lifeguard at a Wiltshire Council leisure centre, said: “It really prepares me for the future. It gives me so many skills like confidence, and you meet so many new people. It gives you the developing skills on how you act and speak to new people. It’s just an all-round great job to have.”
