Carer Support Wiltshire is pleased to announce the launch of a new service helping unpaid carers who want to return to the workplace. The Returners Programme can be accessed via a new website www.carersbacktowork.co.uk and provides carers looking to return to work with support, tools and training to update their skills. The programme is also working in partnership with local employers who will provide mentoring, advice and on-site training in return for access to potential new employees who are experienced and keen to return to work.
Around 600 people a day across the country have to give up work when a loved one becomes ill in order to care for them. It can then be challenging to return to work once they are ready to go back – carers often feel their skills have become out of date and they lack confidence. Carer Support Wiltshire currently has nearly 2,000 carers registered with them who are unemployed and would like to work. Of those, nearly 1,000 feel their skills are out of date or they lack the confidence to take the next step. 1,025 agree they ‘don’t know where to start’.
If you are a carer or former carer needing help returning to work you can register with the Returners Programme now by visiting www.carersbacktowork.co.uk. If you feel that you need additional help with updating your skills Carer Support Wiltshire also has a limited number of places on face to face support groups available. The next two groups start on the 22nd November and 10th January respectively. To apply for one of these please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
