Side by Side Volunteer

23rd November 2018, 11:22am | By Clare Lucas |

Side by Side is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative which aims to tackle social isolation and loneliness. Volunteers provide companionship and encourage people with dementia to continue with a hobby or interest, or start a new one. This helps to build the confidence of people living with dementia.

Could you spare an hour or two each week to meet with a person within your community, to have a chat or go out for a coffee together, or maybe a hobby such as golf, a walking club or a poetry group?

Training will be provided as well as ongoing support from a specified Role Manager. There is no aspect of personal care in this role, and it can be done at a time convenient to you, including evenings and weekends.

For more information, or to request a Registration Form, please contact Clare Lucas, Volunteering Officer on 01249 443469 or e-mail: clare.lucas@alzheimers.org.uk
