The Rotary clubs of Winchester, Salisbury and Sarum have run this annual event for many years and is popular with the running fraternity, walkers and the energetic.
It starts from The Laverstock and Ford Sports & Social Club and the route follows the old Clarendon Way to Winchester. We are responsible for the start and 9 miles of the route through the countryside towards Winterslow and then Broughton. We are expecting upwards of 500 people to take part and need marshals at various points of the route to guide and encourage them in their efforts.
Over the last 2 years due to covid restrictions we were one of the few organisations that managed to run this event and all participants were extremely grateful to have the opportunity to get out and about. This year we are experiencing an increase in participants so need additional volunteers once more to support them.
If you are one of our stalwarts and have helped before we would really appreciate your continued support and experience. Likewise if you have never helped this is a really good opportunity to offer your help and enthusiasm to the runners who are always grateful to have words of encouragement along the route.
Could you please consider giving up a few hours on Sunday 2nd October to help marshal this event either at the registration or marshalling the route. The timing of the starts are staggered for the runners leaving between 9.30 and 10.30am from Laverstock and once the cycle sweep has gone through you are free to leave. Please take the opportunity to watch the Clarendon video on You Tube which gives the flavour of the whole event.
If you can spare 2 – 3 hours and wish to help please contact me on 07976225454 or 01980842323/email firstname.lastname@example.org, .
Many charities benefit from this event and you would be helping all those worthy causes by supporting us.
