Veterans Outreach Visit to Longhedge Village, Salisbury – 30 Jan

23rd January 2020, 6:24pm | By Marc Read |

The South West’s New Mobile Veterans Outreach Support Service will be visiting Longhedge Village, Salisbury on 30th January 2020.

In response to the Government’s continued commitment to its Armed Forces, this unique and bespoke mobile service is the first of its kind and is specifically designed to provide direct support and assistance to veterans across the region, even in remote locations.

As part of a wider local authority project that aims to raise awareness of the Armed Forces Covenant, members of the Armed Forces, public and veterans are invited to visit the outreach team to learn more about the covenant, the outreach service, or to engage with the team to seek support across a wide range of issues including health, accommodation, finance, employment and education.

Army veteran Sarah Welch is the Outreach Project Officer. She said “The addition of our new outreach vehicle is a great step toward us reaching out to the more remote areas of the region where veterans may struggle to access services and need our engagement and encouragement. We will deliver support, education and awareness across the south west to improve outcomes for our Armed Forces community, who have given so much”.

On 30th January, the Outreach Service will be teaming up with Radian and representatives from SSAFA, Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club, Help for Heroes, NHS Salisbury Trust and the Defence Medical Welfare Service. We will be at Longhedge Village, McNamara Road, Salisbury, SP4 6BW from 1000-1530 hrs. If you are a member of the Armed Forces Community and need our help, please visit us on the 30st January.

If you want to know more about the work of Forces Connect South West and our new Veterans Outreach Support service, look us up at www.forcesconnectsouthwest.org.uk and more importantly pass it on.
