Her Salisbury Story

21st August 2020, 4:00pm | By Liz Batten |

On Thursday 3 September 2020 the brand new Her Salisbury Story website at hersalisburystory.com will be launched.   At the same time, we are issuing a call for volunteers to get involved in the project. We hope everyone will be interested in the information about the project and the profiles of women of both the past and present who have helped to make Salisbury the fantastic city it is today. Her Salisbury Story is a National Lottery Heritage funded project run by Soroptimist International of Salisbury, which aims to bring Salisbury’s heritage alive through the exploration of previously hidden women’s narratives, celebrating the lives of Salisbury’s women past and present. 2020 marks the 800th anniversary of Salisbury’s foundation. The aim of the project is to ‘write in’ women’s experiences of Salisbury, ensuring women’s contributions are seen and valued as intrinsic to the city and its development. We hope that the stories of the women so far published will whet lots of appetites to find out more about the project and maybe to get involved. We hope that if you know of a significant woman locally who should be featured, you will use the nomination form on the site to nominate her.
