As Salisbury Older People’s Champion I am creating a short film to be premiered in Salisbury on October 1st which is International Older People’s Day. Through the film I aim to show how older people have contributed to community life and supporting others during lockdown. The NHS and key workers have been magnificent during the months of the pandemic: this short film aims to include those other individual people in the community who have been exceptional sources of support for older people as well as older people providing exceptional support or service for others.
We are keen for the film to be representative of the wide range of communities living in Salisbury. Do you know an older person who you think has made a specific contribution, or received support from an unlikely source. This could be discovering and getting to know neighbours; developing a new friendship; experiencing a new lifestyle, new pleasures, new aspirations. And of course the many acts of kindness I haven’t thought of.
If you are interested in knowing more and I’d be very pleased to discuss with you how you might be involved in this project. To know more about the project or to be involved by introducing me to someone who meets any of the criteria above, please email me a thumbnail sketch of the person and situation: to guard confidentiality and comply with data protection, no names or addresses at this stage. Please also include a day and time between now before 14th August when it is convenient to arrange a phone call
