Home-Start Kennet are recruiting a Deputy Treasurer Trustee

13th January 2022, 1:35pm | By Dawn Wilson |

Join us as a Deputy Treasurer Trustee to help shape the future of our work with families.

We are looking for someone with a finance background and commensurate qualifications to join our Board and support our current treasurer.

The treasurer’s role is more hands on as we rely on that person to support banking, fundraising, providing budgets for funding applications, reporting on finance to the board, overseeing and scrutinising large budget items and supporting the production of the end of year accounts. This deputy’s role is aimed at supporting this complex role.

With 10 part time staff served by one finance officer and payroll outsourced, this person should be familiar with online systems like Xero and tech savvy as our systems are all online. It would be desirable if they had a working knowledge of payroll, pensions and the financial requirements of a Charity and Company Ltd by Guarantee. Each trustee is a director registered with Companies House and the Charities commission.

Someone with knowledge of parenting and the trials our families face would also be desired.

We anticipate that this voluntary position will take up at least 10 hours a month to attend meetings or to engage in Board discussions via email and online forums. Further opportunities to get involved are possible too, so we can be flexible to suit individual motivations to volunteer.

Our Trustees provide essential leadership, guidance and governance from their own professional or lived experiences. They also play an important role as ambassadors for our work and can offer particular skills to the organisation. We are currently recruiting for a trustee with a background of  accounting or finance to support our treasurer and finance and fundraising subcommittee.

We welcome interest from those who can be passionate about our work with parents, children, families, and the community.

Importantly, the Board of Trustees should reflect the communities in which we work. We already benefit from a variety of skills, experiences and backgrounds but are always looking to broaden this further. We’d love to hear from anyone interested in joining us. This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
