Marlborough Remembers – commemorations across this weekend

There is a wide range of different activities and services taking place across the Marlborough area to mark Remembrance Day and the centenary of the end of the First World War.  Here are just some of them:

  • 525 trees distributed to four local groups at Lockeridge, Froxfield, Winterbourne Bassett & Ramsbury Airfield
  • Laying wreaths at 7th Wilts Memorial, procession starting from the Marlborough Community & Youth Centre, Friday morning
  • Poppy laying at the Commonwealth War Graves at the cemeteries (Frees Avenue), Friday
  • Tree planting at Ramsbury Airfield creating a new memorial woodland 10.00 – 3.00 Saturday
  • Roll of Honour being read at Marlborough Town Hall 7.00pm Saturday
  • Remembrance Parade in High Street to War Memorial followed by Church Service at St Mary’s 10.00am Sunday
  • Dedicating a living memorial of trees at Kennet Valley Hall, 2.15pm Sunday
  • Beacons being lit at Marlborough Common, from 6.00pm Sunday and Maisey Farm, 6.45pm Sunday
