Grants for projects for women and girls

13th August 2019, 2:13pm | By catherinerussell |

Wiltshire Community Foundation will shortly be opening applications for the 2019 Tampon Tax Community Fund.  The Fund aims to support women and girls who are most marginalised to overcome barriers that prevent them from fulfilling their potential.

Applications will open on 2nd September and close on 11th October with awards being made in November.  More information including eligibility criteria is available on our website: https://www.wiltshirecf.org.uk/grant-funds .

We are happy to talk through potential applications before the opening date.

Phone number: (01380) 729284

The programme will benefit women and girls, investing in a wide variety of projects, that make a tangible and long-term difference to health, well-being, confidence and social/economic activity, as well as addressing equality gaps. The programme is allocating funds generated from the VAT on sanitary products to projects that improve the lives of disadvantaged women and girls.

Grants of up to £5,000  are available for one off events or projects that last up to 12 months.

Applications will need to demonstrate how they meet one or more of the following objectives:

  • Building skills and confidence – supporting women and girls to learn new skills, giving them the ability to apply for new jobs and/or return to the workplace.
  • Improving health and well-being – teaching women how to look after and improve their own mental or physical health and live in good health for longer.
  • Building social networks – connecting women to others they can share similar experiences with, supporting them to feel less lonely, more valued, more able to pass on that support. For example, projects could offer social and skills groups with specialist support.

Who can apply? – The fund is open to registered charities, constituted community groups and other charitable organisations in Wiltshire and Swindon. Social Enterprises and CICs may also apply, subject to our normal restrictions on funding to such organisations (see our website for more detailed criteria).
