Area Board supports new youth club

9th November 2018, 1:12pm | By andrewjack |

Marlborough Area Board gave its support and funding on Tuesday night to a new youth club being set up in the Kennet Valley.

Following a successful pilot scheme from Marlborough’s Local Youth Network, that saw up to 20 young people from Lockeridge and surrounding villages come to activity sessions, the local parish council decided they would keep the club going.  They put in a grant application for youth activities to the area board that would see the new youth club take place once a month for the next year.

The area board discussed the application at length, including how the club could become more self sustaining in terms of volunteers and funding, and awarded the youth club nearly £4,000.

Not wanting to lose momentum after the pilot scheme, the club will be set up as soon as possible and provide the young people of the Kennet Valley with much needed activities in their local area.

For more information on grants from Marlborough Area Board, please contact Andrew Jack, the Community Engagement Manager, on 01225 713109 or andrew.jack@wiltshire.gov.uk
