Virtual cafes for unpaid carers

15th October 2020, 10:59am | By kathbrice2020 |

Carer Support Wiltshire are continuing to run a number of virtual ‘cafés’ and support groups for unpaid carers across Wiltshire, providing spaces for carers to meet and support one another, share experiences and just take some time out from looking after someone.

An unpaid carer is anyone who cares for someone who could not otherwise manage without their help. A carer might be looking after a child, parent or other loved one, or a friend or a neighbour, who has a disability or long term illness or health condition, including a mental health condition or addiction.

Caring for someone can be difficult at times and stressful, especially during current times. Carer Support Wiltshire has adapted many of its services that have been unable to take place face-to-face and also created new ones.

Carers can contact Carer Support Wiltshire on 0800 181 4118 or email admin@carersupportwiltshire.co.uk to register their place at a virtual event. Here is a list of upcoming events in your area:

Online carer café for carers in Marlborough/Pewsey/Devizes/Royal Wootton Bassett & Cricklade/Malmesbury/Calne

Tuesday 27/10, 24/11 – 11am-12pm

Online carer café for carers in Wiltshire

Thursday 15/10, 29/10, 12/11, 26/11, 10/12 – 2-3pm

Online carer café for parent carers in Wiltshire

Carer Support Wiltshire are also running a ‘Talk and Support’ service, which partners carers with a volunteer who stays in regular contact by phone or video call. Volunteers are fully trained and many are former carers – they can provide a listening ear, support and just someone outside of your family to talk to. Contact Carer Support Wiltshire to register.
