HEALS of Malmesbury Special charity screening of SORRY WE MISSED YOU on Wednesday 20th October at Malmesbury Town Hall

13th October 2021, 3:17pm | By alexadavies |

The issues raised by this powerful drama are very pertinent to HEALS and are sure to ignite a debate. Come along and join other members of our community in Malmesbury for a special evening. Ken Loach, the acclaimed film director, lives locally and has provided a personal note.

Ricky and his family have been fighting an uphill battle against debt since the 2008 financial crash. An opportunity to wrestle back some independence appears with a shiny new van and the chance to run a franchise as a self-employed delivery driver. It’s hard work, and his wife’s job is no easier. The family unit is strong, but when Ricky and his wife are pulled in different directions, everything comes to breaking point.

From director Ken Loach, writer Paul Laverty and the award-winning team behind I, DANIEL BLAKE, this movie is  a powerful exploration of the contemporary world of work, the gig economy and the challenges faced by one family trying to hold it all together.

Doors open at 6 for a 6:30pm start on Weds 20th October at Malmesbury Town Hall. Tickets are £12.50 and include a first drink from the bar. Available via Eventbite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/heals-of-malmesbury-charity-film-screening-tickets-93484144593 or at Malmesbury Town Hall Tourist Information desk. Please note this film is Certificate 15 and not suitable for younger audiences
