Freemasons’ donation to Alzheimer’s Support

22nd November 2019, 9:41am | By Joanna Pazucha |

With his 91-year-old father living with dementia, Devizes Freemason Philip Mackie generously donated £500 from the Moonraker Lodge to Alzheimer’s Support’s Sidmouth Street day club.

“My father is registered blind and has pretty bad dementia. I go to see him every day so I understand all the challenges the condition brings,” said Philip, the Immediate Past Master of the Lodge. “People with dementia need support and an organisation such as Alzheimer’s Support needs all the help we can give them.”

Philip and fellow mason and director of Ceremonies John Davies came along to the day club in Devizes to meet members, staff and volunteers and enjoyed an afternoon singalong with the group.

“We have developed fantastic relations with the Masons within our community and supporting our day clubs here in Devizes which we really appreciate. Without this we could not continue giving such excellent services to people living with dementia in Wiltshire,” said Rachel Fear, Alzheimer’s Support community fundraiser.
