Run the Sodbury Slog for patients at the RUH

2nd July 2019, 4:24pm | By Maddy Jones | Event Date : 20191110

The Forever Friends Appeal is delighted to be a charity partner for the 2019 Sodbury Slog. We have 20 exclusive charity places for the race, which are now open for registrations!

Our charity places cost £30 (£20 of this comes directly back to us as a donation!) with a minimum sponsorship pledge of £100 for a ward or department close to your heart at the RUH. Once registered, we’ll send you your own team running vest, sponsorship forms and a fundraising pack full of top tips to help you go the extra mile. Plus we’ll be there on the day with lots of goodies and to cheer you on!

The Easy Runner Sodbury Slog, Presented by Bitton Road Runners, is quite simply not for the faint-hearted! Forget roads – they’re for wimps – this is a lung-busting, trainer-ruining, hill-climbing, multi-terrain challenge held over and through some of South Gloucestershire’s most stunning countryside.

Attracting around 1300 runners annually the route uses the same paths, fields, ditches and mudbaths since its original inception in 1990. The race always coincides with Remembrance Sunday and is preceded by exhortation, a two minute silence and playing of the Last Post, which sets the scene for a memorable day. The race is then started at 11:05.

As a local hospital serving Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire, our hospital touches the lives of over half a million people, whether as a patient or visiting a loved one. It’s where our babies are born, where our broken limbs are repaired, where we fight diseases, face the challenges of old age, learn to manage long-term conditions and so much more. Vital funds raised from the Bath Half will help pay for extra special projects and state-of-the-art equipment (beyond the remit of the NHS) that will transform care for the hundreds of thousands of patients and families cared for each and every year.

To sign up, visit www.foreverfriendsappeal.co.uk  or contact Maddy in the Events Team on 01225 825823.
