Devizes Area Board invests over £27k in local projects

17th January 2020, 11:40am | By andrewjack |

At it’s most recent meeting on Monday 13th January, Councillors from Devizes Area Board awarded over £27,000 in local organisations and projects.

This significant investment included supporting activities for young people, such as the successful youth clubs at Potterne and Bromham and helping Devizes Lions Club put on their popular Sports Coaching Weekend taking place later this year.

DOCA received funding to help the arts group buy new equipment that will allow it to put on the many events seen across Devizes’ cultural calendar each year.  The Devizes Assize Court Trust received £5,000 that will help it in securing further, much larger funding from the National Lottery which will allow the group to commission the architects that will design and plan the refurbishment of this historical and important building.  Also, the Devizes Bowmen will benefit from a grant that will see new safety fencing installed at their ranges at the Green Lane Playing Field site.  This will see them able to practice in a safe area without the worry of dogs or their walkers straying into range!

Grant funding is looked at during each area board meeting.  If you would like to know more about the grants on offer from Devizes Area Board, please contact Andrew Jack, Devizes’ Community Engagement Manager on 01225 713109 or andrew.jack@wiltshire.gov.uk  Or else take a look at http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/council-democracy-area-boards
