Introducing our new Engagement Officer for Wiltshire
Hello everyone, my name is Mary Cullen and I am the new Engagement Officer for the Stroke Association covering Wiltshire and Swindon. I am very excited to be taking up this new post as it builds on my experience of working in community engagement in Wiltshire, over many years.
I will be leading on twelve month project aiming to enable more stroke survivors to access more support in their life after stroke, to assist with their recovery. This will involve building on existing relationships, and collaboration with key partners and communities to help them take action on stroke in a way that is purposeful and meaningful to them.
This will include working with community groups and organisations to identify activities that could benefit stroke survivors whether that’s art, golf, cookery, bowls, singing, dancing, walking, exercising, whatever your group can offer, we’d love to hear from you!
We will also be working to build on the network of stroke groups across the county. These groups offer peer support, friendship and activities and are a lifeline for many stroke survivors. We hope to develop the network so existing stroke groups and others can come together more to share ideas, information, and good practice in supporting stroke survivors.
If you would like to find out more, as either a stroke survivor, a stroke group, a carer, volunteer or community group, then please do get in touch. I can be contacted by email at Mary.Cullen@stroke.org.uk or Tel 07764 903526.
