Well, what a weekend of fantastic walking as we got back to normality with our 8th Walking Festival. Starting with Cllr Helen Belcher opening the festival by ‘launching’ the first walk from the Community Campus.

Perfect weather, stunning views and good company are all the main ingredients of a walking festival and this year we believe we got it just right.

Since last October the Festival Committee had been planning the individual walks, gathering all the walk leaders, back markers and HQ support and promoting the festival locally and nationwide via social media plus distributing some 3000 brochures to ensure our Festival would be in everyone’s diary.

The 8th Corsham Walking Festival was a great success with 255 walkers taking part in the guided walk programme and for the 44 families who took part in the Saturday Children’s Treasure Hunt in and round Corsham. This year’s Festival saw walkers complete a grand total of 2290 miles, which is twice the distance from Lands’ End to John O’Groats and then over halfway back. We also saw walkers join us from as far afield as Cumbria, Ipswich, London, and Warrington.

The festival is self-supporting but relies upon the excellent sponsorship and support we receive from the Corsham Area Board, Town Council, and local businesses; for which we are most grateful.   Many thanks also to the Committee and the many volunteers and supporters who without their help such events like these would not take place.
