Kington St Michael Village Shop – Shop Manager Required

27th July 2020, 4:25pm | By olliephipps |

Kington St Michael Village Shop, Village Hall, Kington St Michael.

SHOP MANAGER (15-hours per week)

Are you passionate about what you do; want to ‘leave your mark’ and give something to the community that will be remembered for years to come? Here’s your chance.

Kington St Michael Village Shop is looking for someone to oversee and manage the day to day running of this delightful community shop. The 15-hours will be flexible with many aspects of the work able to be carried out at home, although we expect around 5-hours will be spent in the shop.

You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shop, ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently, to maximise profits and minimise losses.

The main duties of the role include:

  • Managing and motivating an existing team of excellent volunteers
  • Creating new business opportunities
  • Marketing new lines and taking the lead on promotions
  • Monitoring cost of wholesale stock purchases, adjusting retail prices accordingly
  • Ensuring all volunteers are trained and up to date, in particular with Health & Safety and Covid-19 legislation
  • Reporting to the KSM Community Shop Committee monthly
  • Promoting and providing an excellent customer experience

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about providing a valued service for our community, you will be a positive thinking problem solver, and be able to demonstrate good management skills. You will be self-motivated, as much of your work will be autonomous.  This is a busy role for you to shape and to make a difference to the Community.

The role initially is a fixed term contract for 6-9 months, subject to KPIs/Targets being met.  This is based on a 15-hour week @ £135 per week.  For the right candidate we hope there will be the opportunity to make the role permanent if targets are being met, or better still exceeded.

Our ambition is to work together to promote a more inclusive environment, which attracts all candidates and signals our commitment to celebrate and promote diversity.

If you would like further information please contact the Shop Secretary ksmshopsecretary@yahoo.com

Please apply by midday on Wednesday August 5th by sending your CV and cover letter explaining why you would be successful in this role to ksmshopsecretary@yahoo.com

Interviews will take place on Monday 10th August with a preferred start date of Monday 17th August, subject to references.
