Chippenham Hospital Radio looking for new Volunteers

25th January 2019, 11:25am | By chippenhamcem |

Chippenham Hospital Radio is the radio station that broadcasts to patients, staff and visitors at Chippenham Community Hospital and online to the World via its website. Offering music (from the 1960s to the current day) and entertainment, as well as details of local events, sport and up to date news.

The organisation which is a registered charity is run by a small and talented team of volunteers from a modern and well-equipped facility within the hospital.

The radio station has launched an appeal for volunteers, who could spare a few hours a week to help them out with roles including presenters, ward visitors, sports reporters and IT or audio technicians.

There also especially keen to hear from people who could offer help in admin roles, including Secretary, Hospital Liaison Officer and Fund-Raising Co-ordinator.

Station Manager Simon Hyde said “we’re looking to grow our volunteer team in 2019 and it would be great to hear from anyone who can give us a hand. Volunteering at Chippenham Hospital Radio not only gives you a sense of satisfaction and a new experience but also new skills and knowledge to either launch into a career of your choosing or just to enjoy as a unique and fun hobby”

Here’s what recent volunteers had to say about volunteering with the radio station.

David: “I wish I had known about this opportunity earlier…I’m having such a great time presenting”

Steve: “I get so much satisfaction and enjoyment broadcasting on Chippenham Hospital radio and if that can bring a little enjoyment to patients then we both win”

If you think I could never do that, think again as they offer full training and support. All they need from you is to be a good communicator, a passion for producing good local radio and a regular commitment.

If you’d like to have some fun, makes some new friends and make a difference to people in hospital, then visit www.chippenhamhospitalradio.com, call 01249 456419 or email studio@chippenhamhospitalradio.com.
