Children and Families Voluntary Sector Forum is a networking group for organisations working
with children and families in Wiltshire and wants to attract new members.
The Children and Families Voluntary Sector Forum acts not only as a forum for its 80 plus
member organisations to share and learn but also as a representative voice. The bi-monthly
group meets virtually and gives members a chance to share what is going on in their work as
well as hear from speakers and network.
Linda Cantillon-Guyatt of Wessex Community Action, which now administers the group and its
steering committee, says: “This is a really worthwhile forum because members are able to hear
from speakers who are telling them about ways to improve their service – or the reach of their
service – or changes happening in government that might affect them.
“It means those organisations are able to publicise themselves to peer groups and that the
members can see how those services work and how they can forge links with the groups
providing them. You might read something on a newsletter but you don’t know what they do day
to day. By coming along and hearing them talk about their work and what they do on a daily
basis, it brings it alive for people.”
Benefits of the forum’s free membership include:
- Access to like-minded groups, reducing isolation for workers and services
⦁ Access to free training,
⦁ Building a common voice on issues which affect the sector
⦁ Keeping up to date with national regional and local initiatives and opportunities
⦁ Having the ear of the Wiltshire Council
⦁ Place to promote your organisation and events services are putting on
